Winter is here in Africa finally, I must admit, I love this weather...

Braiding is a way of protective style for the hair. Our African hair is unapologetically kinky, hence, once in a while it feels good to protect it by braiding or putting some stylish cornrows.

It gives room for the hair to grow naturally without disturbance(combing), but in turn it may end up with a lot of dirt and sweat build up.

Below is how I maintain my braided hair for that fresh and smart look:

DARK N LOVELY PRODUCTS

SHAMPOOING

This involves washing your hair with water and shampoo. Remember not to scrub your scalp too hard as it may strip you of your natural hair oils. Some people don't like washing because it leaves their hair with a lot of frizz. This can be sorted out by using a frizz free shampoo or wearing a headscarf over your head overnight so as to prevent it.

USING THE WASH FREE BRAID REFRESHER

If you aren't the washing kinda girl then this one is for you. It leaves your braids fresh and with moisture. Eliminates unpleasant smell and leaves a long lasting scent.

USING DARK N LOVELY HAIR SHEEN

Used to get rid of unpleasant smells. Spray it on your braids and scalp for that shinny look. Makes braids look brand new.

ANTI-ITCH SCALP SOOTHER

Soothes itchy and dry scalp. We have at one time suffered from a dry scalp , could be as a result of tight braids or sensitive scalp. Apply the oil directly on the scalp and slowly massage it in. This will help relieve the itch.

CORNROWS WITH A BIT OF TWISTS

How do you care for your braided hair and what are your go to products?

Until next time, Xx.
